Rugby World Cup – Incl. details of Fiji game and opening ceremony

Rugby World Cup opening ceremony starts at 6-45 on Friday 18th Sept. followed by the England Fiji Game at 8pm, the club is open to non members, as our main bars are public bars, everyone welcome.

Rugby World Cup Update:

This is the first of a series of messages to keep you informed of activities and events happening at Blaydon Rugby Club during the biggest rugby event to hit our region for many years.

Every match will be shown in the clubhouse – come and enjoy the games and the banter in the rugby soaked atmosphere of Blaydon RFC in the company of our panel of resident experts. The England games (except v Wales), quarter and semi finals and the Final will be shown upstairs on the large HD projector screen and in the members room which has 2 large screen TVs. Our apologies we will not be screening the Wales game in the main room, we have a long term committed function we are unable to postpone, so this one England game will only be shown in members lounge.

In addition, for every England game (except the Wales match) we will also be giving you the opportunity of ordering a tasty World Cup themed meal – based on whoever England’s opponents are. Those ordering food by Wednesday will have a reserved seat to enjoy their food and ensure you get a good view of the match.

So – for the opening match against Fiji this Friday we are offering ‘Fijian Red Pork and Pineapple Curry with Rice’ for only £5.95. To order your food please contact Sharon (our caterer) by 9.00am Wednesday morning, to guarantee availability, otherwise it’s first come first served on the night. She can be reached either on 07748 605549 or by e mail to amowcatering@hotmail.com . You can also either see her in or call the clubhouse.

This pattern of ordering food will be repeated every time so get your orders in for an Aussie Barbeque and a Uruguayan meaty treat (probably an Asado and / or Choripan) as well by 9.00am on the Wednesday before each match.

Also coming up…
11th October – an afternoon and evening full of World Cup action on the screens plus a family fun afternoon with special World Cup prizes for the kids.
31st October – THE FINAL! – come and celebrate the big finale live on the big screen followed by a ‘spooktacular’ fancy dress Halloween Party.

ALL WELCOME! COME ON ENGLAND!
