Blaydon rugby club are delighted to announce the addition of Jim Houghton to the coaching team.

Jim will be responsible for the 2nd team and will provide further support to bridging the gap between youth and senior rugby as we look to place more emphasis on our players’ development.

Jim is a long term player at Blaydon RFC and Durham County and has stayed actively involved at Blaydon RFC running our ‘Crows’ veteran team while developing his coaching career with the senior squad at Consett RFC.

He joins us to further develop his coaching career at Blaydon and brings with him experience of developing players at grass routes rugby.  Jim will perform a vital linking role to the Georgians and Development squads, ensuring the teams all train, prepare and play consistently to allow smooth progression of players through the teams. He will also spend majority of his match days with the Georgians to provide input to the senior coaching staff of players deserving first team recognition/opportunity.

This is another example of Blaydon developing from within, with another one (following; Keith, Lee/Hogga and Jason) of our senior coaching staff coming from our own players.
