Blaydon 2016/7 signings

Over the summer Blaydon have added some players to the ranks in an effort to strengthen the squad. Last season we identified we were slightly short on depth behind the scrum, so a push for backs was high on the list of priorities.

Quality players are always hard to come by as everybody is fighting for them, this year we have been lucky enough to entice a few to Blaydon.
We started with Max Connon who joins us from DMP, Max is an outstanding talent who can plat at 9,10 or 15 comfortably, We had our sights set on Max most of last year, so we were very pleased when he agreed to join us.
The next was young Ryan Foreman, Ryan is from Hartlepool but has been with Newcastle Falcons academy over the last few years, he is a 10/15 with very good skills and a great attacking mind set that will add to our exciting young group.
Andrew Lawson signed up next, Andrew is an outside back who is returning from a long lay off, he has good feet and a turn of pace.
Our final signing behind the scrum is Kris Bratton, Kris is from Penrith he has great balance can step off both feet and will be a massive threat for any defensive.

Forwards weren’t a major focus for our recruitment this season but with us losing Victor we needed to move fast to strengthen at hooker, this we did and we are very pleased to announce the significant signing of Matt Thompson formerly of Newcastle falcons and England Saxons.
We also have Cam Bell another hooker coming to us from Ponteland, Cam has come highly recommended from Hoggy who coached him last year, so we are all excited to see him on the pitch.

We are still looking for one or two more players to add to our squad, however all the coaches and I are pretty pleased with our squad so far.

Our first to pre season games are next weekend: SAT 13TH AUGUST 2016

We host Wharfedale and Ayr, hopefully we’ll see some of you there.
